Visit to Russia and Russian Visa
If you are planning a short visit to Russia (up to 30 days) you should have:
Passport that must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay
Tickets and documents for return or onward travel
Russian tourist visa
You can obtain a Russian tourist visa at local Russian Embassy or Consulate.
It is not possible to obtain a visa at the airport or boarder, when entering Russia.
In order for you to obtain a Russian tourist visa you should submit the following documents to the Russian Embassy or Consulate:
An original of passport with at least 2 blank visa-designated pages (passport must be valid for at least 6 months after intended departure date from Russia).
Two copies of a Russian visa application form, filled out and signed.

ONE passport-size photo signed on the back.
A copy of a proper authorization (invitation) from an authorized Russian travel company.
American Male citizens must also complete Visa Form95 Supplement.

Please note that only citizens of the USA and Canada can obtain Russian tourist visa up to 30 days easily, citizens of all other countries can obtain a visa only up to 14 days.
According to Russian law, your Russian visa must be registered within 72 hours upon your arrival in Russia (excluding weekends and official holidays).
